Brace, Boast Believe- ABCs Stagnate Careers
As we continue our series on stagnate careers, after reading I hope you will be encouraged to keep your head up and fight another day. I would also encourage you to read a great book titled: Emotional Bailout by Cathy Holloway Hill. Cathy is a Life Skills trainer that has experienced the world of corporate America and took the reins in her own hands. This book speaks about overcoming your past: rather it is your job or relationships and another great resource for overcoming and claiming victory.
In the last article we focused on admitting, acknowledging and action and in this current article I want to encourage us to:
B-Brace, boast, and believe
Brace for it
Have you ever seen little kids getting their body ready for medicine? The cap isn’t even off and they have already got their arms pressed against their bodies, lips barely pursued to take the medicine, and the most disgusted look on their face? I’m not advising you to sit at your desk with the “you smell like french-fries face” however I am telling you get braced in understanding you’re in a stagnate position in our career. The quicker you take the stink and that anxiety of that emotion the quicker you can focus on your next moves. Understand what can come down that pipe and have your 90 day exit plan or your 30 second elevator speech ready to roll!
Boast
We as humans automatically wait on applause before we bow, wait for the winning basket before we cheer, and wait on the baby to smile before we all oooh and aaah. While it is good to boast in celebrate in high moments, I’m beginning to understand its okay to boast about where you are and where you are going. Count the blessings of your current situation and then learn to turn these aggravates into opportunity.
Believe
As I’ve said before confidence sells. If you don’t believe in what you are trying to sell to your current and/or future employer than why should they? Companies value experience so much because it tells them that employer is capable and confident. You can win half of the battle off top just by simply knowing and believing your assets. Know what makes you unique and what has sustained you to still be at the company and capitalize in those areas.
Don’t just cry over the split milk clean it up. So while this may not change your work environment it will change your thought process of your day. Energy is transferable so it may bring others along for the ride and take you off to greater paths you didn’t imagine. Remember, knowledge is power. So empower yourself, seek the wisdom: A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding Proverbs 14:6 (NLT).
