Building Blocks for Stagnate Careers

So I feel like we are in this day and age where either you are in a job/career that has become stagnate or you are fresh out of college putting in 100 apps a day and getting nowhere. Very easy to get discouraged and put on the auto-pilot, right? Well we have to conquer that. We are MORE than a conqueror so it’s only fitting we lead in how to stay awake in this stagnate positions. This will be a 3 part series and we will start with A: Admit it, Acknowledge it, Act on it.

Admit it
The minute you admit you’re in a less than desirable place you gain the power and you clear your head to think. So say it out loud to yourself, a trusting resource, to yourself, the dog for all that matters… the key is get it off your chest so the frustration no longer clouds your mind. It’s just like Newton’s theory, take back your energy. If you need a daily affirmation, a prayer, a good work out that helps you admit and let go find time to add these to your day, you need your mental capacity!

Acknowledge it
This is the point where you to need to acknowledge your own accountability of how you got where you are. You have to take your ownership. We as a people give too much power to our managers and companies. You’re investing in them as much and or more than they are with you. This is your career, you own it. You can take your transferable skills with you or you may choose to utilize them at a company. But remember it’s your decision. As I mentioned in previous articles your career is not just limited to your four walls of office space your career is reflective of your integrity and values; volunteer works, books you read, organizations you belong too, these are all parts of your career. So while your daily grind may kick rocks you have that ability to kick it up in the other places and acknowledge where you can make that impact that will bring personal satisfaction along with a give back to the company.

Act on it
My church folks know whats up, faith without action is dead. So put together your action plan. Write it all down or jot it in your ipod; great free or low cost apps like eTodo, Nubi do, and iProcrastinate Mobile. Assign a deadline and make short term goals. Don’t try to take it all on once, get one under your belt with a solid commitment and foundation before you move on to your next action item.

Don’t just cry over the split milk clean it up. So while this may not change your work environment it will change your thought process of your day. Energy is transferable so it may bring others along for the ride and take you off to greater paths you didn’t imagine. Remember, knowledge is power. So empower yourself, seek the wisdom: A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding Proverbs 14:6 (NLT).
