From 68….to the Elite 8

So here we are down to the last 8 teams in the tournament and my bracket is beyond busted. When I started out I had the winner of the Ohio State-Duke final four as the champion and as you see neither team even went to the final four. Of the teams that are left, I only had four of them in the Elite 8 and none of them in the final four….I guess that pretty much sums up my bracket. Anyways let’s take a look at the games on tap for today and tomorrow.

Butler-Florida

This is one of the games that I am looking forward to watching today. Butler’s Brad Stevens has his boys ready. That’s pretty clear. When it comes to athletics and size Florida has Butler beat, but Butler has an uncanny way of making teams’ turnover the ball and take bad shot and then they capitalize off of them. I think that if Florida doesn’t allow Butler to take them out of their element they will win this game, but if Butler forces them out of their comfort zone just as they did to Pitt and Wisconsin they’ll be final four bound for the second time in as many years. I’m going with Butler in a close one.

 Arizona-UCONN

I expect for this to be the Kemba Walker show, much like it has been the Kemba Walker tournament. I don’t really see how Arizona is going to be able to contain him and with him and Lamb playing good basketball I think that it will be hard for Arizona to beat them. Even though it will be hard…I don’t think that it will impossible especially when you have a player as athletic as Derrick Williams. Frankly I don’t know how UCONN is going to contain him, but if they find a way to slow him just a bit I think that they will win this game. I’m going with UCONN for the same reasons I’ve been going with them all tournament…they have Kemba Walker.

 VCU-Kansas

Kansas should win this game by a landslide. I mean it should be over before it even begins just like the Richmond game. The thing with Kansas is that I’m never that confident in them when it comes to the tournament. Never.  I don’t have very much to say about this game. VCU has had an amazing run in this tournament and regardless of how this ends on Sunday they’re winners. Kansas should win this game.  VCU doesn’t matchup with them at all. Kansas has better talent, better athletes; they are just an overall better team. With that said I am going with Kansas, but hear me when I say….I will NOT be surprised if VCU wins.

 UK-UNC

This is one of those classic matchups. Two of the most storybook teams in college basketball fighting to make it to the final four….great story line. I think that this is going to be a good game.  I think that for UNC the combo of Barnes and Henson may be the reason that they win this game.  If those two play well I think that it will be tough for UK to keep up. UNC cannot allow Josh Harrellson to have a good game if they want to win comfortably.  Some people say Harrellson in is underrated…I disagree. I just don’t think he’s that good. If UNC somehow lets him have a good game, like Ohio State did, I think that they will lose. It’s really hard for me to pick a team in this game…one moment I say UK, the next I say UNC, you just never which one of these teams is going to show up. At this very moment I’m going with UNC, but UK has just as good of a chance of winning this game.
