Six Tips Work-Life Balance

In this day and time work- life balance in your work environment is necessary.   More and more companies are downsizing and adding more responsibilities.  Not to mention, we are in a far more competitive work environment than before.

Work-life balance is needed because you need to be 100% for your family and you’re no value to a company if you can’t bring that 100% every time you enter those doors.  Whoever heard of winning the “skipped the most lunch’s award?”

Here are six quick tips that you must start today:

  • Start your day at least thirty minutes early.  Use this time to have a little breakfast, meditate, pray, or go for a run.
  •  Take a real lunch.  Step away from the desk and have a healthy and light lunch, take this time to read your newspaper or the latest Fortune Magazine.  Keep your head in the game but take a break from the environment. If your sweetie pie is nearby, ask them to meet you for lunch.
  •  Make a cut-off time.  Pick a time in your day when you decide to shut work off.  Put the phone on silent, turn the laptop off, and spend time with yourself or your family.
  •  Have a hobby. Pick something that is your own thing.  Not your homeboy’s, not family time, something just for you.  Go to the gym, play online game, paint, or write poetry.
  •  Leave your troubles behind.  Let go of yesterday’s worries, have a confidant or a journal where you vent out any problems at work.  Don’t carry yesterday’s worry into today’s promise.
  •  Get rest.  Close your day the way you begin your day.  Go to bed at least 30 minutes earlier than planned and either meditate, read, or do yoga.
