Think About It…What You Have Left
“When the heart grieves over what it has lost, the spirit rejoices over what it has left.” Sufi Epigram
The death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, or the severing of a close relationship can cause grief. The best way to minimize the pain and length of the grieving process is to take inventory of the good that still remains in your life. The Bible says King David felt depressed when he was forced to flee from his home to escape his enemies. But he didn’t let his grief overcome him.
My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: …Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again – my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember your kindness – Psalm 42:4-6 (New Living)
If you’re grieving a loss today, stop for a moment and thank God for what you have left, then trust Him to work things out for good (Romans 8:28).
